The Netalert website defines cyberbullying as:
Bullying that is carried out through an internet service,
such as email, chat room, discussion group or instant messaging.
It can also include bullying through mobile phone technologies such as
short messaging service (SMS)

Examples of cyber bullying including teasing, spreading rumours online,
sending unwanted messages.

Multimedia technologies have created new domains in which young people learn and interact.
Technology such as mobile phones, in phone cameras, SMS, emails and chat rooms can be an
effective way to learn and communicate.

Unfortunately some people use this technology to bully others.

We need to teach  the children how to
use this technology in an appropriate way
AND what to do if they are being cyber bullied.

ASSOA is currently in the process of developing a policy, to include strategies
to prevent and respond to cyber bullying.
